Teple Misto Urban development program was created to promote the dialogue among the residents of Ivano-Frankivsk during the process of urban spaces renovation and transformation. This is a process of constant intercity communication, accompanied by problem diagnostics and the search or borrowing of profound and effective mechanisms of problem solution in the city.
Program objectives:
– raising the residents’ responsibility for the buildings and surrounding areas; their further transformation, maintenance, and use according to the users’ needs or functional purpose;
– creating effective communication mechanisms for the participants of urban processes;
– improving the quality of the practices of city residents’ participation in the processes of the city transformation;
– supporting local urban initiatives in Ivano-Frankivsk.
The program is equally aimed at encouraging the dialogue and cooperation of the city administration, businesses and community in the projects concerning the improvement of communication and comfort of Ivano-Frankivsk citizens in the urban environment. Experts (architects, urbanists from Ukraine and abroad), partner public organizations, and volunteers take part in the initiatives and processes. The participation of students studying such disciplines as architecture, IT, journalism, sociology, economics is also important.
By inviting the city residents to discussions on initial stages, urban education executed through workshops, debates, and analysis will facilitate adequate assessment of local problems. In the future, this program is expected to encourage Ivano-Frankivsk residents for personal initiatives of the city development. Naturally, it will not only change people’s attitudes to the urban environment, but it will also qualitatively transform common public areas for more comfortable and person-oriented way of spending free time.
