New Economy of Ivano-Frankivsk (NEF) project aims to transform Ivano-Frankivsk, a regional centre located in Western Ukraine, into a competitive innovative economic centre.
The NEF project will kick-start economic processes to stimulate innovation activities and strengthen the existing players. The project ultimately aims to incubate higher value-added products in Ivano-Frankivsk. Local SMEs, innovators and researchers are key NEF beneficiaries.
The NEF project is a 3-year undertaking, lasting from April 2022 until March 2025. Ivano-Frankivsk City Council is a lead partner, with innovation centre Promprylad.Renovation, urban platform METALAB, economic development agency PPV Knowledge Networks and Teple Misto platform as partners. The project is being funded by the M4EG Mayors for Economic Growth Programme of the European Commission. The project will actively engage local stakeholders, including large businesses, local authorities and municipal enterprises, civil society organizations, and universities.
Due to the Russian-Ukrainian war, for at least a year, the project will support SaveBusinessNOW, a business crisis support centre. SaveBusinessNOW is both a local community for local and relocated entrepreneurs, a set of business support services, incl. advisory sessions, relocation support, consulting support, finance access facility, and business networking platform. The centre aims to strengthen economic activities in the area relatedly unscathed by the war, – in this case in Ivano-Frankivsk region. SaveBusinessNOW will specifically support small businesses and research and innovation groups that are forced to relocate to Ivano-Frankivsk and local ones that have to transform their operational models due to the ongoing war.
Additionally, the NEF project will support:
-
Refurbishing the bomb shelter at Promprylad.Renovation, leveraging best practices;
-
Setting up a maker space and a biochemical lab at Promprylad.Renovation;
