The first contest of «City Grants» from Teple Misto platform has been completed

Five winners had been determined in the City Grants Contest that is managed by Teple Misto Platform.

You will find the information about the winners below, now we would like to tell more details about the contest itself. 

We had received 24 applications from initiative teams who were willing to participate in the competition. 

The estimation had included two phases.

The first phase - remote assessment. The Expert Council of six members got acquainted with the projects, estimating them according to eight criteria: topicality, innovation, competence of team, empathy, stability, clearness, expenses/efficiency, consequence. 

As a result, 9 projects, that got the maximum score in total, made it to the short list of the competition. 

Projects that were included in the short list:

1. Nevdoma (Nevdoma initiative group)

2. Ivano-Frankivsk YOGA-marathon (International Yoga School NGO)

3. Art project, which is accompanied by improvement  of the interior of the Municipal Center of Contemporary Art in Ivano Frankivsk (artist Yevhen Samborskyi)

4. Coverage of innovative practices in the area of urban developement and modern education (UFRA NGO)

5. Information campaign «Poperedymo bidu» («Prevent Trouble»), (Charity Organisation «Charity Fund «You are an Angel»)

6. Time for the city (Headway UA youth movement)

7. Metamorphosis (Mime Wave Ukraine group)

8. Sports and entertainment complex for children with disabilities (Voiny Chesti (Varriors of Honor NGO)

9. TEDxUrbanIvanoFrankivsk (TEDxTeam group).

The Expert Council of the competition:

- Viktor Kimakovych, Director of the Department of Education and Science of Regional State Administration in Ivano-Frankivsk, Executive Director of the Community Foundation named after King Yuriy;

- Nadiia Parfan, Curator of the Film and Urban Festival «86», Director of documentary films, scholar of the program Gaude Polonia 2015;

- Marharyta Zhenchuk, community activist, scholar of master program Edmund S. Muskie, Evergreen State College, Olympia, WA, USA;

- Yuliia Liakhovych, head of projects and programs, the representative of the Teple Misto Platform;

- Iryna Stetsevych, director and founder of the recruitment company A-space, representative of the social restaurant Urban Space 100;

- Serhii Fitsak, manager, director of the IT-company Softjourn.


Those teams, whose projects entered the short list, had passed the interview with the members of jury. The winners had been determined after the interview. 

Previously we had announced that there will be only 4 winners in the contest. However, one of the projects, that became the winner, required less financing than others. Therefore we were able to divide the prize money between two projects. Consequently, in the first contest of «City Grants» Teple Misto will provide projects-winners with organizational and financial support. The projects-winners are:

1. Information resource of events in Ivano-Frankivsk Nevdoma (the project of the initiative group «Nevdoma»). A few years ago project members had launched an interesting service, where citizens and guests can find announcements about all the events that are going on in Ivano-Frankivsk. They carry out all the work as volunteers, starting from design and finishing with the content of the site. Funds, that project team will get from Teple Misto Platform, will go to pay for hosting for a year providing smooth operation of the site. 

2. Art project, which is accompanied by improvement of the interior of the Municipal Center of Contemporary Art in Ivano Frankivsk (artist Yevhen Samborskyi). Ivano-Frankivsk Center of Contemporary Art is the only Municipal Center in Ukraine, which is precedent. Due to grant funds the building of the Center will be repaired. Also they will purchase the lamps for lighting displays.

3. Coverage of innovative practices in the area of urban development and modern education (UFRA NGO). On the basis of experience of similar to Ivano-Frankivsk cities of Ukraine and the world, a series of publications about innovative practices in urban development and education will be made. These publications will create the basis for the implementation of useful projects in abovementioned and other areas and inspire the residents of the city. is an independent online-media about social life in Ivano-Frankivsk. It was founded in October, 2014. They write about social and urban innovation, diversity of city residents, creative industries. This media is considered to be in class by itself in Ivano-Frankivsk. 

4. Information campaign «Poperedymo bidu» («Prevent Trouble»), (Charity Organisation «Charity Fund «You are an Angel»). The Fund will hold the training seminar aimed to decrease infant mortality rate from cancer due to improvement of primary diagnosis. For several years now Charity Organisation «You are an Angel» takes care of little patients in the oncology department of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional hospital and helps in financing of the treatment. 

5. Show Metamorphosis (Mime Wave Ukraine group). Mime Wave Ukraine is a cultural non-commercial project that was created together by artists and arts organizations from Ukraine, the Netherlands and Poland. Within the project there will be created musical and visual performance with the working title «Metamorphosis», which is based on the contemporary Ukrainian everyday life and recent changes in the country. Also within the project there will be a series of workshops about physical and participatory theatre for townspeople, interested citizens and cultural activists of Ivano-Frankivsk. 

In the nearest future projects will receive funding from the Teple Misto Platfrom.

This year the first contest of City Grants Program was more than half financed by the social restaurant Urban Space 100.
